Our Footprint

Our goal is to make our footprint as light as possible. Our long-term goal is for environmental sustainability to be integrated into every aspect of day-to-day work; we want to make products that favor people, animals and the planet from idea to finished product.

We are continuously taking steps towards a lighter footprint by prioritizing recycled and organic materials, choosing environmentally friendly treatments and working with certified suppliers.

Who we work with

We work closely with a carefully selected group of suppliers – trusted partners who share our vision and commitment to quality. Our suppliers are based in Sweden, Portugal, India, Pakistan, China, Italy and Turkey, and are chosen based on their craft expertise, ethical standards and environmental practices.

Our suppliers are audited according to internationally recognized standards that ensure proper working conditions, such as Amfori BSCI or Sedex. We prioritize working with GOTS certified and OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certified suppliers and continuously work to increase the share of certified production in our range.

Our choice of materials

We work actively to make the best material choices for our collections. We prioritize natural and organic materials – above all organic cotton, grown without the use of synthetic chemicals or genetically modified organisms – as well as high-quality pure linen. We always strive to create products with a long lifespan and prioritize non-blended yarns as these can be recycled and re-created into new yarns when the product's lifespan has reached its end. Garbo&Friends is committed to operating in an environmentally sustainable manner in line with current national and EU legislation, including REACH.

Product Safety

We work in partnership with Intertek and SGS to test our products and materials in accordance with standards set for durability, safety and chemical content.

All suppliers need to adhere to and follow our Quality Manual made by UL that states our standards and legislated standards regarding everything from seams, buttons, materials and chemicals.
